SINGER MODEL 201-2Vintage Heavy Duty Sewing Machine. It is a Singer Anniversary Model 1851 to 1951.The Model 201 machine is often considered the best model sewing machine ever made. (Rumored to have been chosen by Rolls Royce to do the interiors of their luxury automobiles.) It has all metal construction (heavy duty!) and produces beautiful stitches. Straight stitch only with reverse. It operates very smoothly and quietly, especially when compared to newer plastic machines. It has a horizontal, drop in bobbin that is easy to access. This is a very capable and reliable machine that can sew light fabric as well as heavier materials, like vinyl, with ease. Uses standard bobbins, needles, feet, etc. that are easy to get. This particular machine is in great condition! It was recently cleaned and oiled. (201's hardly ever need "adjustment".) Interesting back story: It was owned by a professional seamstress in the Theater District of New York city and was used to sew costumes on Broadway. The black paint is in good condition but not perfect. The gold decals are also in pretty good condition with some slight wear in areas. (See pictures) Electric wiring is good - insulation is still soft and flexible. Comes with the original Singer foot pedal. Also includes a heavy duty vinyl dust cover.EDIT: It was pointed out the bobbin winding pin that presses into the base on the right side (below the bobbin winder) is missing. Didn't realize it. I'll order one but won't have it before the listing ends. Also more pictures were added of the bottom cross shaft area. This machine weighs about 38 lbs so shipping is not recommended. A crate would be required. Pick up only. I'm located in the Detroit, Michigan area for pick up. Willing to meet locally at no extra charge. Longer delivery drives MAY be possible for an extra charge.
